Santana Garrett Joins Mae Young Classic
Congratulations to the incredible Santana Garrett who has been named as one of the 32 participants in the WWE Mae Young Classic. IGNITE Wrestling fans will remember Santana from her appearance in our March 2016 show where she faced Angel Rose.
Santana Garrett is a second-generation star. Her father is ‘TNT’ Kenny G, and he’s had his daughter at ringside since the day she was born. From an early age, Santana knew she wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps. Santana likes to joke with people and tell them she grew up inside a wrestling ring. She has been quoted as saying she learned holds from her dad before she was in junior high. This kind of upbringing had a tremendous influence on the young second-generation star, and as soon as she entered adulthood, she became a wrestler.
She now finds herself center stage on the biggest stage for women’s professional wrestling. This is not her first exposure to WWE. She previously had a tryout in WWE’s developmental territory NXT on September 13, 2013, tapings which aired on tape delay on October 9, where she faced Charlotte accompanied by Bayley in a losing effort. She also appeared on NXT TV in 2016 losing to Asuka, Emma, and Billie Kay.
Garrett is no stranger to competition having appeared previously as TNA Knockout, NXT, IMPACT and Global Force Wrestling. She has won many titles, national and international, such as the Shine Championship, the Shine Tag Team Championship, NWA World Women’s Championship or the Wonder of Stardom Championship.
Garrett now joins IGNITE Wrestling female talents Angel Rose (now appearing on IMPACT), Kennadi Brink who recently joined the WWE as a referee as roster members who are now performing on a global stage. All of us here at IGNITE Wresting wish her all the best in this landmark tournament and will be cheering her on!
