After The Bell: Slade Porter

We know him as our favorite frat boy and from amazing tag team matches.  Slade Porter is breaking out from the pack after a great single showing against Chikara’s The Whisper showing what he can do in the ring.  Now we have the chance to learn more about this amazing young wrestler as we go after the bell to see what makes him tick.

Question: How old were you when you saw your first live wrestling match?

15 years old

Question: Where did you begin your training and who trained you?

Team Vision Dojo in Orlando, Florida. I trained under Aaron Epic, Chasyn Rance, and Jesus Rodriguez.

Question: What is your entrance music? Any reason for picking this song?

“No Good” by Knuckle Puck Besides being one of my favorite songs, it’s about cutting out the people in your life who don’t support you. Being a nomadic wrestler, people you think you know to change their opinion of you. But whatevz. Also, the song has a great entrance point about ten seconds in.

Question: Who are some of your influences or people that you look up to in the business?

Definitely Epic, as well as my mentors, Martin Stone and Murder 1. The Carnies, Nick Iggy, Kerry Awful, and Tripp Cassidy are guys who always motivate me, and don’t mind sticking their necks out for me. There are so many people I look up to though. I gotta shout out Chip Day though. He’s a brother who always lets me in the car, and stay at his place.

Question: Who would your dream match be against?

It would be against Shawn Michaels, but that’s not happening now. Wrestling AJ Styles would be great. He doesn’t know how to have a bad match. Also, the guy who got me into wrestling was Zack Ryder. It’d be cool to wrestle him.

Question: Other than the dream match opponent, is there anyone that you haven’t worked with that you would like to one day?

There are two Canadian guys that I’m hoping to work with soon. Ethan Page and Josh Alexander. Ethan is one of the funniest guys in wrestling and one of the last quality true heels on the indies. Josh has this innovative style of amateur wrestling that I find fascinating.

Question: What is something that not many people know about you?

I hate the show Friends. I think the characters are annoying and the story arcs are poorly written. I’m trying to make this well-known information. The truth is out there, people.

Question: Finish this statement, if I wasn’t involved in wrestling I would be….

..making my parents proud.
